Company Description:
Chittagong Fisheries Port is an institution under the control of Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. At the beginning of the institution in 1972, the then Soviet Union gave 10 ocean-going fishing trawlers as a gift to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Chittagong Fisheries Port in 1973 with the technical assistance of Government of Japan on 121.43 acres of land at Ichanagar of Karnaphuli Police Station on the south bank of Karnaphuli river in Chittagong district for harvesting fish from the sea through trawlers, landing, marketing, processing and construction of marine fish trawlers. is established.

Chittagong Fishery Port started coastal and deep sea fishing by mechanizing small wooden sailing boats and for the first time in the country introduced nylon nets instead of carpus nets and set up three net factories. Since its inception, Chittagong Fish Port has been exporting processed fish abroad under its own management besides repairing and maintaining sea fishing trawlers and other vessels.
Out of the 121.43 acres of land of Chittagong Fishery Port, private fishing industry is occupying 26 acres, Marine Fisheries Academy 11.15 acres, PDB 0.66 acres, Nadi Shiksti 8.68 acres and Bangladesh Coast Guard 22.65 acres. Chittagong Fish Port is using about 42.29 acres of land including fish processing and storage, fishing trawler docking-undocking, fishing trawler/pontoon repair, fish landing facilities, ice production-supply, net repair etc. activities and school mosque road.
“Factory License” has been obtained as per Bangladesh Labor Act 2006 by Directorate of Inspection of Factories and Establishments on 24/11/2021 AD in Category: F, Type of Industry Miscellaneous (Ship Yard, Fish Processing) Section.

Fish Harbor Shipyard:
Revenue is the main source of income for Chittagong Fishery Port. Chamb Fish Harbor Shipyard received “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) for ship repair in Grade “B” category by Department of Shipping on 13th January, 2021 AD. A workshop (Marine Workshop and Dockyard and Multichannel Slipway Dockyard) with two full-fledged dockyards is currently running under the said shipyard at Chittagong Fishery Port.
Marine Workshop & Dockyard:
Chittagong Fishery Port has a marine workshop and dockyard with two separate slipways of 350 ton and 250 ton capacity. This dockyard is built for docking and repair of domestic fishing trawlers. Docking and repair facilities are provided to 30-35 fishing trawlers annually through this dockyard.
Multichannel Slipway Dockyard:
A new multi-channel slipway dockyard was constructed at the cost of Tk 42.78 million in Chittagong fishing port for docking-undocking and repair of fishing trawlers, barges, pontoons, tugboats etc. On April 25, 2019 AD, Honorable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the dockyard. The dockyard has two slipways of 200 meters length and 1200 tons capacity. It has 45-50 fishing trawlers, vessels, pontoons docking-undocking and repair facilities annually. Under this project, berthing, water and electricity facilities for 20 large fishing trawlers are provided at two T-head jetties located on the banks of the Karnaphuli River in Chittagong Fishery Port.
Fish Processing and Preservation:
Chittagong Fish Port has a fish processing plant comprising 1 cold storage of 350 ton capacity and 4 cold storages of 50 ton capacity and 2 blast freezers of 5 ton capacity and 1 blast freezer of 3 ton capacity for storage and processing of marine fish through which the exporters can store marine fish. and processing facilities are provided. The factory will soon be renovated and modernized.
Basin Facilities:
A basin with an area of ??2 lakh 75 thousand square feet was excavated in 1973 at Chittagong Fishery Port with the assistance of the Government of Japan for the berthing of marine fishing trawlers. There is a berthing opportunity of 70-80 domestic fishing trawlers in this basin. The basin is currently filled with silt. The basin will soon be excavated and renovated.
Auction Shed:
Auction Shed, one of the revenue sources of Chittagong Fisheries Port, is built on an area of ??about 02 acres. This basin is the most convenient place for net mending, fish landing and storage for the local fishing trawlers. Also, activities will be undertaken under the “Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries” project to modernize the auction shed. If the basin adjacent to the auction shed is dug, marine fishing trawlers will be able to come directly in front of this shed. The fish of all these trawlers can be easily landed in the auction shed. This will increase the income of Chittagong fishing port.
Berthing Facilities:
Berthing facilities for marine fishing trawlers are provided at two T-head jetties established in Karnaphuli River in front of Chittagong Fishery Port. Fishing trawlers are provided with water and electricity facilities.
